iSoftBet secures new supplier license for newly regulated Greek market

On the heels of its latest partnership deal and leading online and mobile casino games software provider iSoftBet has notched another “landmark moment” for its business after securing a license in Greece‘s newly regulated market.

Granted by the Hellenic Gaming Commission (HGC), the A2 Greek license will enable the British firm to offer the “full spectrum” of its high-quality proprietary and third-party content to leading licensed operators such as Interwetten, Stoixman, GVC, and Betsson by way of its game aggregation platform (GAP) from this summer.

Earlier this year, Betsson was awarded online gaming and betting licenses by the HGC, for its 18th regulated market, for its Betsson.gr brand launch, with a product offering specifically developed with local players in mind, with Greek language dedicated customer support services.

“We’re looking forward to launching and showcasing our content and platform power in Greece.”

The coming Greek opening will subsequently see iSoftBet active in 2o regulated markets with the London and Luxembourg-headquartered company providing tier-one operators with award-winning content and “maximum speed and efficiency” to market via its GAP aggregation platform.

Further compliance efforts:

Proud to be awarded their Greek license, iSoftBet compliance manager Mark Halsted said in a company press release that they will look to continue to further improve their compliance program with new and upcoming marketing requirements for their games as they are announced.

“This is another landmark moment for the business showing how ahead of the curve we are in entering the latest regulated and regulating markets with the biggest brands. We’re looking forward to launching and showcasing our content and platform power in Greece.”

Compliance efforts:

iSoftBet has a long and distinguished record of compliance excellence having won the prestigious Compliance Outstanding Achievement Award at the VIXIO Global Regulatory Awards in 2020. The company’s compliance team has led the way in managing significant changes to existing legislation including the finalization of certification in various countries such as Switzerland, Sweden, Colombia and Malta over the past two years.

“We continue to lead the way in compliance excellence, and I’m delighted we will soon be able to offer all our market-leading products in Greece, a market that has huge growth potential,” said Federica Faggiano, Chief Commercial Officer for iSoftBet.

The CEO explained that securing licenses in emerging markets such as Greece enables them to do what they do best; “offer leading operators the full spectrum of our high-quality proprietary and third-party content, and both launch and accelerate their local brand presence with maximum speed and efficiency via our proven GAP platform and innovative player engagement tools.”

New regulations:

In October 2020, the HGC opened the application process for Greece’s new online gaming licenses after the authorities passed new regulations the year prior. Priced at €3m (£2.5m/$3.4m) for sports betting and €2m for games, the licenses run for an initial period of seven years while license holders are required t0 pay a gross gaming revenue tax rate of 35 percent.

After the bill passed in October 2019, the 24 operators granted temporary licenses in 2011 were permitted to continue their operations until March 31, 2020, at which time they were required to reapply. Among the regulations, players must be 21 and older while conditions for online casino include a max €2 slot stake, with prizes capped at €5,000, and a jackpot games limit of €50,000.
